"most Texans I know are good with their history, pard"

I missed Texas history in school. My knowlege of Texas history is pretty well limited to personal accounts handed down by family members. A lot of that was lost during the civil war which devasted my family. So many men never returned.

I am a Revolutionary War buff. In my pursuit of that as a hobby, I have learned an interesting generalization that is certainly true for me: RevWar people ignore the Civil War and vice versa.

About 16,000 patriots died in the RevWar and over 600,000 Americans died in the Civil War. Tragic.

Sorry to hear that it had such an awful impact on your ancestral line.
