You want more then a year in prison and the state to take away her children, because she hit a teenager who was beating up her child?
If she was operating on all cylinders, she would have pulled the kids fighting apart. She obviously wasn't, so she deserves to face the wrath of the justice system.
I am not saying she does not deserve to be punished. But to say she deserves a year in jail and to have her kids taken from her, only to become wards of the state seems a tad harsh to me.
