"I suspect this will be the biggest "hot button" in the next presidential election and there is no way I want to see sHillery have a better plank than whomever the Republicans nominate."

I think Hillary knows she's going to have trouble among the blue collar union voters (particularly men), and she's going to use this issue to appeal to them, and offset any losses by picking up disenchanted conservatives in border states. Winning Florida, Nevada, Colorado, New Mexico, and Arizona would go a long way toward offset losses in Michigan or Wisconsin.

I had been hopeful because the RINO field seemed very crowded for 2008, with Giuliani and McCain fighting it out, as well as Romney, Hagel, and Pataki. But if the MSM goes after Giuliani (as they are doing right now with the Kerik stories), and that RINO field narrows, McCain could have a good chance, unless conservatives unite behind a single candidate to challenge him (as happened in 2000.) I think the MSM is going to clear the RINO field for McCain, their golden boy.

Interesting question... McCain v. Hillary.... who'd win Arizona if Hillary is anti-amnesty, and McCain is pro-amnesty?

If Hillary really adopts a strong anti-immigation policy, arguing that illegals drive down wages for average working Americans and hurt social services for "the children" (which is quite true and something I could definitely see her doing), and the Pubs run a business as usual candidate, she will win big in many red states with big illegal populations like AZ, NV, NC, etc.

IMO, given the penchant for many dems to vote a straight ticket, and the votes she would garner because of the serious immigration problems in AZ, I think it's a no-brainer....she would, and pick up votes in Socal, NM, and half of TX.

Scary huh!.

The Democrats would win either way. If McCain is the GOP's nominee, you can look forward to giving loyalty oaths to the Fuhrer...or Hitlary, if she wins. F both of them. If he's the nominee and she's the nominee, it will be the first time I vote for a third party for the Presidency.
