Don't know much of anything about hydrogen but I'm darned well sure that something useful will come out of the research.

You have two things in common with the researchers then. Excpet they know the only useful thing to come from it is their salaries.

What a complete *ss you are. Look at MKTY on the NASDAQ now!!!! They are in production!!!!!

If I could strip you of your FR membership I would. You're an embarassment.

Now get fired up and come after me. I'm going to teach you a lesson lightweight.

Bwahahaha, great article. I'm a mechanical engineer and have been telling people bits and pieces of this for a long time, but no one believed me. I don't think the article mentioned hydrogen embrittlement of steel pipes, another problem.

"hydrogen added to the atmosphere will combine with oxygen to form water vapor, creating noctilucent clouds—those high, wispy tendrils you see at dawn and dusk. The increased cloud cover could accelerate global warming. "

More CO2 from hydrocarbons broken into H2, and this as well. Oh sunny day.

"This article is an article for fusion research. Set the fusion reactor on a floating platform in the ocean. Use the electric power to separate the hydrogen and oxygen from the ocean's water. You get H2 plus other byproducts."

Heck, why not use dilithium crystals?

H2 embrittlement is an old old old story and it is true.

Now look at light hydrocarbon stripping in a reformer and get up to speed. You're 10 years behind the curve goddammit!

To teach me a lesson, you'd need to have some sort of knowledge and intelligence. Your post indicates you have a severe deficiency in these.

No, the posts by others on this thread show a dearth of current knowledge. I hold a PhD from one of the top three universities in my field of science.

There is a repetoire of old knowledge that has been rendered ... well 'old' by developments over the last 5 years. This includes H2 embrittlement, economy of electrolysis, nuclear options, infrastruture concerns, explosivity and so on. These are all old news. They are a set of problems leftover from the past.

Here's a link of basics for understanding the here and now:

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/fuel-processor.htm

A teenager could read that link.

Next, look at MKTY on Yahoo financials and read about their company. Look at the yahoo message board for MKTY. Go to their website. They are now in production.

And lastly please do not post here until you have done those things. You would just be exercising a flame for no good use. I will accept apologies. The flame was started by Publius who apparently believes any proponent of alternative fuels is a 'whackjob'.

Son, you need to back away from your computer and take a chill pill.

This is a discussion, not an inquisition.

So do I, but apparently you didn't have to study the first and second laws of thermodynamics for yours. When you've read up on these you may be able to contribute something to the discussion, but from your posts so far I doubt it. In your own words, And lastly please do not post here until you have done those things.

I will accept apologies

You call me an ass and you will accept apologies? You can stuff your arrogant ignorant head where the sun don't shine.

"As long as electricity from nuclear power costs more than electricity from other sources, using that energy to make hydrogen doesn’t add up."

This person is only slightly ignorant on the costs of electricity production by nuclear power.

Nearly 4 years in on the ten year hydrogen plan, and not a hydrogen gas pump or vehicle in sight. Is anything happening with this energy currency idea?

I'll take a look at your links, and I follow the new advances when I get a chance. Got nothing against hydrogen or solar, wrote a whole book about Yucca Mountain, I love my gas guzzler 67 Camaro. In short, I'm an energy kind of guy, but I just don't think H2 energy problems are easily solvable FOR WIDESPREAD USE no matter how much you transform it.

Not really. "Light" hybrids are expensive and inefficient.

Tests show that light hybrids are cheaper to use in urban driving than straight gasoline cars.

It exploded with enough force to move the walls of the test chamber. Pieces of tank and chamber were ejected at high velocity and penetrated several inches into foam boards. Stuff flew over 50 m from the blast.

Sure, and because I can afford a Lexus RX330H, why not? I'm already vastly overpaying for getting form point A to point B. But if it raises the price of a Civic by $4000, it will never make back the added cost.
