Not at all. Houston is the 4th largest city in the country and went for Kerry, but the surrounding small towns in Harris county made Bush the winner by a small margin. Look how short the Harris County red pillar is compared to much smaller cities with blue pillars.
In the BIGGER PICTURE would you not agree that "blue towers", tend to be more densly populated areas?
I guess you will continue to move the question until you find one I agree with, so yes they tend to be more densely populated. That fact however has nothing to do with what this graphic illustrates.
Thanks for posting this, I've been looking everywhere for it.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
I received this e-mail from my very liberal, California niece this morning:
Notice
The Center for Disease Control has issued a warning about a new and virulent strain of sexually transmitted disease. This disease is contracted through dangerous and high-risk behavior. The disease is called gonorrhea lecthym (pronounced "gonna-re-elect-him").
Many victims have contracted it after having been screwed by the Bush-Cheney-Rove-Ashcroft administration for the past four years and failing to have taken adequate measures to protect themselves.
Cognitive sequelae of individuals infected with gonorrhea lecthym include antisocial personality disorder traits; delusions of grandeur with a messianic flavor; cognitive perseveration; inability to incorporate new information into a rigid idée fixe; xenophobia; inability to accept responsibility for actions; and a strong propensity for categorical, all-or-nothing thinking.
This epidemic is out of control. It has been credibly reported that it has already resulted in brain death in over 59,000,000 Americans. Excessive exposure to country music and yellow ribbon asphyxiation are thought to be contributing factors. Unfortunately, new CDC Director Archbishop Burke has ordered a halt to research into the disease after determining the disease is incurable and is merely God's will.
Apparently, however, at least 55,000,000 of us have natural immunity and are poised to lead a brief but exciting life right after the rapture begins and our afflicted fellow Americans ascend to their eternal reward.
MY Response to her:
Yes, it is a frightening reality that most sexually transmitted diseases bring to our society. I have heard about this strain. Sadly, it has been traced to the original carrier. Through painstaking research and investigation, it has been discovered that it was first transmitted on the desk in the oval office about six years ago. Cigar residue was found to be interactive with the bacteria and thus was found to be the ingredient which activated the disease's deadly impact on our population. Both carriers have been isolated and rendered inactive. There is some concern about the wife of one of the carriers, as she has, (we shall use the slang word,) "f@#%@$", numerous people througout her troubled life, but she too will be neutralized, probably within the next two years or so.
I am postive Virginia would be higher but for the areas closest to D.C. Solidly blue, the home of the infamous Jim Moran. Rest of the state is very red.
I should also add the Richmond and extreme southern pocket of blue resistance. I live in Loudoun County, which, while still red, has seen an increasing number of dem. voters in the last few elections.
It's numeric margin. So if a county with 300,000 voters went 149,999 Kerry and 150,001 Bush, the graphic would be nearly flat with a margin of 2. But the county next door could have say, 54,000 voters, but it was 43,000 Bush to 11,000 Kerry--a margin of 32,000. The smaller, less densely populated county would have a larger, higher graphic.
Thanks for the ping!
I poked around at the website it came from, but I couldn't find any context to it. Too bad it doesn't have a legend in the image itself.
Either way, it's a very striking map. I assume one including population density would be as well. If I find something I'll post it.
This is a great graph.
Would you please repost it as a reply. Thanks to the lawyers of SBC/Yahoo, I can't copy the html codes directly from the source. However, I can go in the back door to copy the html link on Free Republic.
Thanks.

Actually I need you to post the graph so it appears in the reply. Thanks!
Ironically, I can copy the graph and send it email, which I did. A couple of my young conservative relatives made copies of it and handed it out at lunch time today to hammer a few whining libs. They informed the libs, that they don't even control any important states, only the God for saken big cities.
