WASHINGTON — The son of U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan unleashed a bitter counterattack on investigators of the U.N. oil-for-food program last night, calling probes of the scandal a "witch hunt" that is part of a "broader Republican political agenda."In his first public comments since the scandal erupted, 31-year-old Kojo Annan came out swinging, insisting there is "no substance" to allegations against him and his father.
"I feel the whole issue has been a witch hunt from Day 1 as part of a broader Republican political agenda," Annan said in a written statement to CNN.

The younger Annan is under investigation for his work for Swiss-based firm Cotecna, which won a lucrative contract to inspect supplies under the oil-for-food program.
Kojo Annan's statement raised eyebrows on Capitol Hill, where efforts to get him to testify about his role in the scandal have so far been unsuccessful.
"We'd be happy to hear from him under oath if he has things to contribute to the investigations," said Rep. Chris Shays (R-Conn.).

Yeah, like Kofi hasn't had his own agenda against Republicans and the administration. I hope he goes down.
