Pataki: I am thinking about running for a fourth term

George Pataki says he's considering seeking a fourth term as governor in 2006.

But the third-term Republican governor says he won't make a decision until after the upcoming legislative session ends.

In an interview today with The Associated Press in Albany, Pataki said it's flattering to be considered a potential 2008 candidate for the G-O-P presidential nomination. But the governor says that's a decision that will have to wait until later.

Pataki says he'll run for governor again if he believes there are things he can do for the people of New York. He says there's still much work to do to complete the recovery effort and rebuilding of lower Manhattan in the wake of the September Eleventh, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Last week, Democratic state Attorney General Eliot Spitzer announced that he would run for governor in 2006.

Unless he works on medicaid reform, the bankrupted counties in this state will retire him!

Pataki is toast. I hope he goes out a winner by not running. More than that, I hope he doesn't contemplate the 2008 election for President. George lacks chrisma.

As a registered conservative living in NY I say - No! Not again..... It's time for him to go. He's done enough damage.

Out of all the GOP wins on that magical election night in 1994 his win surprised me the most. Just retire from politics George and go make some money.

Memo to George Pataki from one of his constituents: Fuhgeddaboutit! Use the time to groom a candidate who can beat Spitzer, the shakedown artist.

I hope he is appointed to a Wash position. That would let Lt Gov.Donahue run as an incumbent.
I must confess I don`t know anything about her politics but this is New York and a Republican here that can win the office would be considered a liberal most other states.I don`t like it but that is the way it is.

My county(Washington)is as close to bankruptcy as any. This is about equally to blame on local officials as state and federal.
The Cary/Cuomo years may be somewhat distant memories now but compare what Pataki has done to that dark period of anti-business administration.
Any one who is Gov of NY will have to support some of the socialist agenda of NYC and Albany not to mention the very powerful unions in NY.

Pataki will suffer from voter fatigue, that is the reason I would rather not see him run.If Spitzer is elected we will in short order be back to the old joke that the last business to leave NY turn the lights out.

Nanak's Dictionary
PATAKI = RINO in name only (otherwise a true LIBERAL DEMOCRAT)

Your can't talk to people on this site about that Carl. Any Dem is better than most Republicans to most around here. It's the Northeast; wall to wall blue states, friends. We're lucky to have Pataki; New Yorkers would not elect a conservative Republican. These moderate, although authentic, Republicans are the best that can be hoped for. No one on here could name a conservative New York Republican who could be elected. But they complain, bellyache, and cry about this infinitum.

Vote for the most conservative candidate in your primary, folks. That's the key. Then live with the results.

Pataki actually flew down to Puerto Rico to support the idiots who wanted our Navy to stop using Vieques firing range.
