My wife was estatic! Peterson gets death and Pedro gone (and not to the Yankees!) Sorry, he (and Nomar) had become friggin' prima donnas.
Now maybe he can find a seventy-year old guy his own size.

"Now I'm supposed to feel bad for the Red Sox & their 2nd highest league payroll?"
Big Stein still outspent Boston by an obscene $70 Million. The Yanqui should never lose a game on paper.

If that's the way you want to approach this, then there's nothing special about Boston, either . . . Pedro Martinez should still be pitching for the L.A. Dodgers.
Oh, and Brett Favre would still be playing for the Atlanta Falcons, too.

Just wait until the NY papers start to rip into "petey". You will get to see a 54 million dollar cry baby. Wahh!! they don't respect me. Petey is going to have to be very careful with those high & inside fastballs when he comes to the plate.

"Let him go. Pedro is on the down-side and I doubt he wins fifteen games for the Mets." Not to mention a 90 percent tear in his labrum, he may not even pass his physical.

Lets see. Mets = $50 mill. Sox = $30 mill. No contest! As a bonus, he is in the NL and in 4 years he could be pitching for the San Jaun Knights.
This is a win win situation for Boston, as I see it.

I will grant that Martinez is already classified as "journeyman." But sometimes even a journeyman finds a place that welcomes him and is willing to make a hero out of him. Pete Rose retained his status in Cincy even after he left for Philly. Babe Ruth will always be considered a Yankee, despite trades from Boston Red Sox and to Boston Braves.
Those players who are traded or cut don't apply here. I'm only saying that to reach the pinnacle, it is good to have a home. A long-term career predominantly with one team is the ideal. If you are in a position to have that, it can reflect well unto you.
I know that technically, John Elway had to sign with the Colts so they could "trade" him to the Broncos, that Kurt Warner had a cup of coffee in Green Bay before he was cut, etc. But tell me, Alberta's Child, do you think that Wayne Gretzky gained or lost by going from Edmonton to L.A. to St. Louis to the Rangers, etc.? (My wife is an Albertan, and I love her so much that we will be visiting her family in Grande Prairie for Christmas ... brrrr!!)
