As a unabashed Creationist, I won't even argue your point: ID is absolutely a Trojan Horse for Creationism. What the ID crowd is really trying to do is two things (IMHO): (1) force some hard thinking about Evolution and all of the gaping holes in it; (2) "Back door" the creation view without being overtly religious about it.

Hey if 80%+ of the population trying believes in some form of divine being, this shouldn't really be that hard a sell job. But the evolutionary track people (i.e., the self-admitted godless "intellectuals" of our society) have so much succeeded in shoving the Darwin theory down everybody's throats over the past 100 years that it is "de facto" in the fields of biology, zoology, anthropology, botany, and more. But it can't work! And they're so blinded that they can't even entertain a moment's thought of considering a critical look at the core belief system that has been erected.

force some hard thinking about Evolution and all of the gaping holes in it;

I would like to see you produce just one idea linked to ID that isn't routinely explored by mainstream science.

Mainstream science doesn't assume things are irreducibe because it is too busy reducing them. The assumption that something could not have occurred by the accumulation of natural events is not merely wrong. It is anti-science in the worst possible way -- it argues that it is sinful to look for natural causes.

The only way to conduct science is to assume natural causes and look for them. That is what it means to do science.
