Minnesota elector breaks ranks, votes for Edwards, not Kerry
Minnesota Star-Tribune ^ | December 13, 2004 | Associated Press

One of Minnesota's 10 presidential electors broke from the pack and cast a vote Monday for John Edwards, the Democratic vice presidential running mate for John Kerry.

The other nine Minnesota members of the Electoral College voted for Kerry, who won the state's popular vote in November.

After the state's Electoral College ceremony concluded, no one stepped foward as the Edwards voter. Most electors chalked the vote up as a mistake rather than a purposeful political statement.

Wow! The Democrat Electors can't vote right either! It's good to see that the Democrat voters who can't vote right have representation.

If Minnesota can't get ten people to vote error-free, then what does that say for the rest of the election there (especially in Milwaukee!)

Ok this makes no sense - why would you vote for Edwards and then not step forward? Maybe you want to secretly tell all your friends you were the one that voted for Edwards. That would make you cool.

This is good to stick it to Kerry but bad for the process. Voters should know that the slate of electors will follow their will.

Read the article. Whomever it was, the nimrod voted Edwards/Edwards.

Is that considered an overvote or a spoiled ballot?

I agree this person truely wanted to represent the heart and soul of the voters that carried the day in MN--confused voters who mistakenly voted for Kerry or was it Edwards or---well anybody but Bush.
