My sentiments exactly. While I believe Peterson killed his wife and unborn child, there is no direct, concrete proof. Like you said, circumstantial. There's no way I could give him the death penalty just because I was reasonably sure he committed the crime.

The "experts" don't know what they are talking about half the time. They were shocked at the verdict, so take what they say with doubt.
It's CA, anything can happen. I'm hoping for the death penalty though.
