And there is no mistake that rank and file Muslims have a green light to do so from their religious leaders who remain essentially silent while the horrors go on.

Exactly. I had the same bemused reaction. This article -- agree or disagree with it -- is mostly cogent, relevant and responsive. It's bizarre to jump into an exchange with bravado and alacrity, whilst pressing the point that the debate itself (or one side of it!) should not be allowed to occur at all.
