How can they possibly get a Ohio State Supreme Court hearing in time before the Electoral College vote in 20 minutes?

Make sure every (electoral) vote is counted!

It'll be thrown out. No court can interfere with the selection of electors by the state legislature. See Blacker Vs McPherson (1892) and Bush Vs Gore (2000) for holdings on the subject.

OH's Supreme Court - unlike the SCOFLAW in Florida, is GOP-dominated. I don't see Arnebeck's quixotic tilting at the windmills finding a prayer of success today.

The West Virginia GOP elector has said that he may not use his vote for Bush, that would mean the final total is 285.

Hey, don't ask me. They're the nutcases. You should check out PJComix's DUmmy Funnies today. They are crying tears of joy because they know that Kerry will be President. It's hard to believe I'm on the same planet as those people. The funny thing is even if the Ohio S.C. does throw it out , they will still believe that .

One vote less for Bush? The odds are better a Kerry elector or two will cast a protest vote today.

I believe the GOP Ohio Chief Justice has said it was 'very unlikely' to hear the Dims lamentations..

Once the electors have voted, only the US Congress can alter the result.

I'm confused. What does this event really mean, if anything, and has the recount in Ohio been completed?

It means, game over. We won.

I thought it was about to start or that it had only recently started.

The recount starts Thursday. It is a purely academic exercise and waste of tax payers money.

Given the level of delusion evidenced in that DU thread you mention, I fear one of them is going to attempt something rash when they realize all is lost for Kerry.

Yes, but if it were to occur, the House can challenge those faithless electors.

If that is the case, would the person be an elector come 2008? I would not think so on first blush...
