If infidelity is the point, then are we as a country going to exclude everyone, and I mean everyone, from public office who has had an affair?

I hope so. If someone can't honor their marriage vows, why would they bother to honor their oath of office?

Because your professional responsibilities seldom make you crazy, and rarely invoke that part of your brain that is involved in having an affair.

People assume that adultery is no big deal. I have even heard ministers ague this from the pulpit.

Adultery is not just a sexual act. It is breaking a solemn obligation, and hurting those who are depending on you, and whom you have sworn to love.

If you think that adultery is a small thing, consider that Jesus said that those who cannot be trusted in small matters, cannot be expected to be honest when the temptations are really large.
