Lemme see if I got this straight -- A guy who is dumb enough to get himself addicted to a street drug and indebted to IRS for millions of dollars is calling other people stupid for dropping a few bucks on an entertaining weekend in Vegas? Did I get that right?
Carlin in very cynical, very liberal, but often also very funny. I tend to cut funny a lot of slack myself.
Anyway, gambling and drugs are both expensive entertainment. At least with gambling the drinks are free.
Carlin stopped being funny about 20 years ago. Think he's been suffering from senility for several years. As recently as the 80's, I thought he was a brilliant and thoroughly entertaining comedian. He's lost it all though. Too bad.
As long as you keep dropping money in that slot machine. Carlin has a point, I usually like casinos for one thing, cheap eats. I let the gamblers subsidize my dinner at them!
Two words? "F--- me?" "F------ me?" How else could he convey such a desire with just two words? It would seem almost necessary for the second word to be "me," which means the first must be a command. Maybe "suck this?" It seems like adding a finger-point would be cheating the two word limit.
Those don't sound at all graceful.
I mean, 3 words is easy to understand, "[verb] my [noun];" the number of constructions are almost limitless. But two words? The man is a master wordsmith, but I don't see how he could have done it.
Like most liberals and drug addicts the older they get the more they go over the deep end. He used to be great when he first started out. His humor was funny and related to true life experiences. But like most old worn out druggies and left wing wacko's they just can't hold it together. Thanks for the information, I won't be buying a ticket to any of his shows in the near future,.... I'll buy myself a drink instead.
If only I had a dime for every time George Carlin has sucked on an imaginary joint during his act.
You hit the nail on the head.
Think Monica.
As in "B--- me".
You aren't actually going to stipulate that he's wrong because he does it too? lol.. One can be a hypocrite and still be accurate. Difference is, if he didn't have some experience in it, he'd be excoriated for being green on the subject. Knowing something about it, he's excoriated for hypocrisy and being a traitor to the cause as it were.. lol. Proves that no matter the manner of greeting, if you walk into a pit of snakes with a camera crew, point, and say "look! Snakes!" the response will be "hissssssss"
Having heard Carlin a lot recently, I imagine the two words were "BL!W ME". It's a very native New York figure of speech. Carlin is a walking contradiction, like many bright individuals: his comedy has been at one and the same time brilliant, cerebral, stupidly vulgar, and personally off-putting, as if he's just pushing the envelope either for its own sake, or just out of personal discomfort. Its the equivalent of Linda Ronstadt turning one of her recent stage shows into a commercial for Michael Moore. The audience came to hear and see one thing, and they're given something else. They have a right to walk out, or yell up at him, like a woman in the audience did. I noticed a sea-change in Carlin starting about ten years ago on one of his HBO specials--a willingness to go farther and farther into making an audience uncomfortable , testing their own flexibility, almost to see if he could get away with it,bend them to his will, and still keep them loyal to him. Unfortunately, nothing that ever came from these forays into Xtreme Comedy ever proved to be very funny.
Hey, man, George was my supplier of imaginary joints for YEARS.
Think he's been suffering from senility for several years.
------
He blinks real hard; a sign the mind is downshifting gears.
The last time I really paid any attention to Georgie-boy was when he played Flip Wilson's side kick.
Like Atlanic City???
The first word was probably "Blow".
As the libs told us though, that is not a sex act.
