I guess I don't understand the logic of thinking that safer drivers are licensed drivers and vice versa. I don't really know where I said that either....

Ok, you didn't say that. (sorry again). To answer something you did actually say: it typically won't matter to me whether someone has insurance or not when they hit me. I don't want my car "fixed" but not rolling straight from now until when it dies. I don't want to be injured but if I am, I buy my employer's supplemental disability insurance. To have the other guy's insurance pick up the tab is quite useless to me.

The issue of whether having a "unforgable" license that proves you are insured is an easy choice for me. It is useless.
