There was a show on Discovery Health Channel this week about a little girl who was born without the bone for her lower face. She can't talk or eat (trache tube here as well) and since she can't cry the parents have to watch her all the time. The doctor, Dr. Bradley of L.A., is a pediatric cranial surgeon and seems like a wonderful person. The little girl, Ashlynn, was fitted with a metal contraption that her mother had to move a fraction of an inch a day as the so that the bone that Ashlnn was born with (that the surgeon separated) would grow.

Ashlynn was blessed with loving parents as this little girl was.

This was just one part of an episode of their show "Plastic Surgery." The second part involved a woman with a clown act who said a cavernous wrinkle on her face started with the "Bush Administration." The surgeon, who was wearing an American flag scrub cap, gave her a little guffaw but I'm sure he was tempted to say, "Get the h*ll out of my office, you self-indulgent vain freak! If your candidate and his running mate won he'd sue all doctors out of the profession."

I wonder about the children with facial deformities born to parents who are selfish, self-involved and nonbelievers.

I saw the same show about Treacher-Collins on Discovery. It was amazing how brave these kids are and how much can be done by the plastic surgeons.

What was even more incredible was the little girl who had enough plastic surgery and while she would have been in her rights to want more, was happy with who she was and how she looked.
