Condoleezza Rice, President Bush's pick to replace Secretary of State Colin Powell, is studying up on the nitty-gritty of running a sprawling bureaucracy of 28,000 people.
She's already started on the diplomacy by paying polite calls on the senators whose votes she needs to take the job.
{snip} "I have concerns about truth-telling," Boxer said Friday. "The American people deserve to have a secretary of state who will tell them the truth, and I have a problem with Dr. Rice as I go over her many comments, most of them on television directly to the American people, leading up to the Iraq war and beyond."

I wouldn't be surprised if lots of black mommas are secretly encouraging their daughters to look to Ms. Rice as a role model instead of some rap star's blinky blinky.

I just have to leave it to your imagination, what I would like to tell Sen. Barbara Boxer.
said Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.
You're probably wondering why Anne Gearan only quoted a Democrat. Well, you see, we Associated Press reporters don't know any Republicans. No one really associates with them, you know. Sure, if we weren't all Democrats, we'd have also quoted a Republican, who probably would have said something positive about Dr. Rice. But don't you think it's more effective to have a Democrat call her a liar without any of those Republicans getting in the way? |
You mean like Mad Maddie Halfbright did? Guess it takes a liar to know a liar, huh Barbara?
Prairie
It might make the Dem Senators feel less intimidated by her.
That must be why you never do it.
That was a big mistake. Dems think that they need extra time to marshal their forces to "Bork" Condi, but they're just gonna dig their graves deeper by ratcheting up their attacks on the woman many little black girls dream of growing up to be like.
Isn't Obama going to be on the foreign policy committee? I'd love to see him derail his preordained vice-presidency the first month in office by spuriously dissing Ms. Rice.
I can't believe this media! It was the White House who said that it would be better to have Dr Rice's confirmation hearing in January.I guess because the Republicans will have a larger majority in the Senate and House.
"I have concerns about truth-telling," Boxer said Friday.
Why are you still in the Dim party?
Why are the Dems still fighting the last election?
said Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.
Hi, folks. Brian, your friendly Associated Press salesman here.
