Also good authors and reads, though even those all-stars had their turkeys. I would add Ellison and Bova to your list ...

Bottom line for me, Michael Crichton like Tom Clancy, deserve their elite status among those you mentioned, if only for their more deserving early works. The elite Sci-Fi and Spy-Thriller authors teach, offer cogent political or sociological insight, as well as entertain ... and for me, Asimov was #1!

I will read MC's new book, because he will add to my paleoclimatology understanding, plus he will make us all better at shining light on the AGW frauds -- and did I mention, we will also be richly entertained!

I know. Sometimes I get carried away when writing a rant.

Some of Chrichton's quotes:

Global Warming is a foolish media-hype scare, which is used to get grant money for scientists, environmental organizations are "fomenting" false fears in order to promote agendas and raise money, he went on to say that many in Hollywood are "dopes".

I don't think there actually is a consensus at all, the contrary is true if anything.

I seem to recall the Ptolemaic system of the solar system, with Earth immovable at the center of the universe, also enjoyed "a very strong scientific consensus."

Democrats to this day believe that the universe
revolves around an immovable Hillery! Clinton.

Great book read it a few weeks ago. Crichton has 13 pages
of bibliography. Crichton though said "We need to make up our own minds". Personally, I do ny buy into global warming as man made, it is cyclical in nature.

If Crighton can get one person to pick up a book instead of watching TV, he should be thanked.

"And while you are at it read more and get educated."

That's not a sentence.

Welcome to FR.
