Report: Most Skyscrapers Still Not 'Up Armored'

More than three years after terrorists crashed commercial airliners into the World Trade Center, most skyscrapers still the lack armor plating that could help reduce casualties in a future attack, according to a report released by Congress.

"The Bush administration has devoted almost zero resources to up-armoring our nation's tallest buildings," said an unnamed official who had seen parts of the report. "We have anecdotal evidence of stock brokers dragging dumpsters into their offices and actually working inside the dumpster to get that extra layer of protection."

The report's release comes just days after Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld faced a spontaneous question from a soldier in Kuwait about the difficulty of securing armor for Humvees.

"If each tall building were blanketed with steel, America would finally be safe," the official said. "The terrorists would have to give up, just like they would be stymied if all military vehicles were up-armored. There's nothing they could do to hurt us then."

Liberals need to convince the American people they "care" about our soldiers.

They don't. They only act like they do when they've lost an election. The rest of the time, they say they're baby-killing imperialists hell bent on worldwide conquest and domination.

"It's a matter of physics, not a matter of money," said retiring Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge.

Let's not forget the insurance agents who spend their spare time rummaging through junk yards picking up armored limo glass to reinforced their windows.

The left now "care" about our troops? They sure have a funny way of showing it. Here's an example from this thread:

bluestateguy (AKA cowardly freeloader) (1000+ posts)

I don't give a sh*t what happens to any of those troops who voted for Bush. They [who get killed] are getting what they deserve.

I hope one day this guy says that in a bar when a marine is sitting within earshot. He will get what he deserves.

here's another:

ZombyWoof (1000+ posts) ( fitting nic)

The Marines are murderous psychopaths. F**k the Marines and their culture of killing. F**k their swallowing of the myth that they "fight for freedom" and "the American Way of Life". F**k Americans who also buy that Big Lie.

NickB79 (1000+ posts)

I do NOT look forward to the troops coming home. I don't want to live anywhere near guys who took pride in the deaths of 100,000 Iraqis over the course of the invasion.I just wonder how many psychologically damaged young men will be coming back only to keep killing people here in the US? ( only people like you, nick, but I wouldn't care, no loss in your case)

I don't think the loons on the left are doing a very good job of convincing. Should I ever run into one of these jerks, I will convince them just how much I care though...

Good satire piece!

I could only add that the two largest examples of mobile armor, the IJN battleships Musashi and Yamato, the largest and most heavily armored ships ever constructed, now lay at the bottoms of the Sibuyan Sea and off of Okinawa.

They also rank as the two least cost-effective naval platforms ever conceived of and constructed in the entire history of naval warfare.

Other than sinking the tiny escort carrier Gambier Bay and damaging Kalinin Bay, (if I remember correctly), they achieved nothing other than the consumption of 35 U.S. torpedoes into their sides, and several score of heavy bombs topside.

Astonishing...how many of their crew died on those, the most "up-armored" ships in history.

"Those who fail to read history...are doomed to be replaced as network anchors."

Exactly. Most "liberals" hate the military and everything it represents. The latest garbage about armor was part of the effort for them to counter the very real "perception" that they side with the enemy.

They've nothing more than cynical swine. And anyone who thinks that liberal news isn't propaganda is a fool.
