Regardless of how you feel about the music, he had his politics right.

Darrell rocked in more ways than one. I hope Vinnie Paul's doing okay...

It just goes to show that conservatives come in all shapes and sizes.

"I never cared for his music, but I'll tell you, they were quiet neighbors. That studio they have in their back yard is absolutely soundproof." I've never heard a lick of his music, but that tells me loads about his character.
RIP, friend.

I read an article where one of the road crew said Vinnie crashed in Dime's bunk and cried all the way home. Can't say I blame him. He's probably still in shock.

"We'd talk conservative politics. He was a big, big supporter of George Bush." Despite this, it won't be long before certain posters who show up on every Dimebag thread (you know who you are) come here to pontificate on the evils of heavy metal and that Abbott "reaped what he had sown" through his music and other such trash...

I would have pegged him for a Nixon fan, myself.
Seriously, this is a pretty crummy day for music aficionados.

yep, they're out there. When I first heard of him, he was going by 'diamond' darrel, and I figure the name change was to remove any connection to the hair band days.

I guessed he was Bush fan, when I heard he was friends with Mancow.
Has anyone checked to see if the shooter was a delusional member of the DUmp?

Thank you officer for getting it over with and denying this person a stage from which to spew.

The day after this happened, I was talking with someone who is a Bush-hater and he said to me he hoped the person who shot him turns out to be one of those "Bible thumping zealots who support Bush" and the motive would turn out to be the shooter thought heavy metal music was Satanic.
I think it's more plausible (although I'm reserving judgement until after more is known) that the opposite is true.

I'll call a couple over from the tribute thread and see if they'll run their mouths over here too.

The shooter apparently was a washed out Marine. They still haven't disclosed why he was discharged. I'd be pretty curious to know about that story. A band breaking doesn't seem like a reason to go on a shooting spree, so you'd figure there was something not quite right in his background.
In a strange twist, the cop who killed him was ex-Army.
