Not a long stretch of road, but one that is best avoided is RT 49 between Coulterville and Bear Valley. It's only about 15 miles, but it takes about 45 minutes get thru it. 20 mph switchbacks, steep grades, as it winds around a steep river canyon.

A 13000 foot climb up the mountain with no guard rails is nothing to sneeze at.

Good photos. Its a breathtaking drive. Some days, just getting away from the crowded cities and traffic congestion makes its worth it. Mtn driving though, is not for the faint of heart. You do have to watch it on the curves or you can do a Thelma & Louise to nowhere.
