After the first count, Rossi was ahead by 261 votes, a lead that shrank to 42 votes after a statewide machine recount.

And (blue) King County added some more ballots in that "re"count...

In Whatcom County, for example, election workers found seven unopened, uncounted ballots that had earlier been accidentally put in a wrong pile.

I'm suspicious. Were these 7 votes for the Democrat candidate? If so, the RATs are bringing in votes in their pockets and purses.

In Mason County, which reported its results on Wednesday, several additional votes were picked up when workers looked at punch cards and either found chads that had been punched but not counted by the machine, or noticed a voter had otherwise marked their intent on the card.

Noticed that a voter had otherwise marked their intent....what the heck does that mean?

Did they write a candidate's name on the punch card?

The Democrat's mantra - keep counting until you like the outcome. The real crime is that the entire nation - both Dems and Repubs know that they are cheating in every way possible and yet the press keeps up the act that this is all in the name of "making every vote count."

It is my understanding that some ballots were 'adjusted' for the intention of the voter.

We can kiss the Washington statehouse goodbye. Does anyone really believe that the Rats aren't going to somehow "win" this one? The only good thing that might come out of it is that a few of the centrist zombies in the state might wake up and realize that the Dems are the thieves, liars, and traitors that they truly are.

punch cards with problem chads and optical scan ballots that weren't marked properly.

Uh, shouldn't these ballots be thrown out?

Gregoire won that county, for what that's worth...

Here it comes. The party of fraud will win again -- in the only way they can anymore.

"We just don't want the rules to be changed midway through ..."

Rossi "doesn't want" .. the USSC said NO! Do we have to go through that again. The USSC has already determined that elections rules CANNOT BE CHANGED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ELECTION.

I'm suspicious. Were these 7 votes for the Democrat candidate?

The story specifically says:

"The new ballots were counted: three for Rossi, two for Gregoire, one for Libertarian candidate Ruth Bennett and one nonvote, Forslof said."

It's OK to bring your own suspicions to the story, but not when they are contradicted by the facts. So far, the recount has generally shown a gain of about 1 ballot per 1,000-2,000 previously counted, pretty much in proportion to the original count. That has led to a Rossi gain of 20 so far. What will happen in King is still the big question. See the numerical analysis at soundpolitics.com

What we have here is Rossi picking up a net gain in the small counties-- plus two here, minus one there, plus four somewhere else. Then when it is all done, except King County, the RATS will create, I'm guessing, just enough votes to win by 70 or 80 votes statewide.

People will need to understand that once RATS are voted into power, it will take more than 51% to vote them out.

So what happens if Rossi loses this recount? Will they be counted again? Theoretically, the counts could change every time the votes are recounted, due to human error if nothing else.
