Difficult to get the really big score for the cops.
The stuff is pretty hard to make, so any manufacturing outfit had to have its stuff wired pretty tight.
You could transport a HIGH street value quantity in say, a resealed soda bottle, and it would be TOUGH to detect it, even if your car was searched.
A sheet of 100 hits of blotter could be easily concealed under a box flap, in a pack of 4"x6" index cards, damm near every where.
Finally, acid never seemed to draw the same level of interest from the man that horse, weed, coke, meth, and later, crack (po' folks freebase) and extasy did. I suspect that problems in detecting it and popping a large enough quantity to make possible nice photo shoot of the bales, bricks, and heavy duty ziplocks that the cops like so much had something to do with it.
Then they obviously never attended the same Dead shows I did.
