Yes, this occured in Corvallis, Oregon. OSU football plater attacked a reserve Sgt. (think that's what he was).. I believe that the charges are being diluted...
Well I am sure that the NAACP and other human rights groups will come out and make the same racket they did when James Byrd was killed.
Its a good thing that black leaders and human right groups are not hyporcrites when it comes to hate crimes.

I remember some of the cooler talk criticism of Clarence Thomas from minority women was he married a white woman.
People in Blue States are sooooo much more tole-RANT than we are in The South........
I'm sure I may get some negative responses from any black females here at FR, but I have noticed that black women get mightily p.o.'d if an attractive, successful black man chooses to date a white woman.
I live in the South and personally, I don't have a problem seeing interracial couples together if they look to be over 25. When they are that age, I believe they have the maturity to know who they really want to date and to know how to handle the negative situations that may arise from friends or family members (or ignorant people).
Most of the time, however, in the malls here the interracial couples fit the following profile.
Overweight, pale, bleached blonde female (age 15-18) with piercings and jewelry dangling from every appendage seen with a gangsta "Snoop Dog" wanna-be, dread locks, wearing 15 gold chains and jeans so baggy the crotch hangs to his knees and shows ALL of his underwear. The female is always looking around to see who is looking at her.

The article says that they are also being charged with civil rights violations. I'm not sure if that translates into a hate crime or not.

Suspected white supremacist Dimitri Long knew the cops were gunning for him - and he was ready.
A handcuff key was found on the lanky 28-year-old fugitive when he was arrested Tuesday night while checking into a detox center in Foxboro, prosecutor Lynn Beland said yesterday.
The assistant Norfolk district attorney's disturbing detail of how Long, his girlfriend and a second man allegedly tried to torture Joseph Parks of Norwood to death for dating a black woman persuaded Norfolk Superior Court Judge Wendie Gershengorn to hold him on $100,000 cash bail.
Long threw his arms up over his angular face when confronted by news cameras and shouted ``not guilty'' when asked how he wished to plea to his alleged hate crime.
Beland said the oft-incarcerated drug addict was on probation for another assault and battery case when he was picked up for allegedly beating, burning and stoning Parks, then trying to have him run over by a commuter train.

I'm assuming from this that the perps are white, but the reporter really needs to verify this for the story to be fully understood.
