I am stunned at those who think Hillary can't win the nomination and can't win in 2008.

The nomination? Anyone who challenges her will be chewed up and spit out into little pieces by the still-influential MSM. In fact, I'm wondering if anyone with stature will even dare to challenge her. She'll have to talk Dennis Kucinich into running again, which would also serve to make her look more "moderate" and "reasonable."

The general election? Three questions:
- What state that Kerry won would Hillary lose? (....crickets chirping.....)
- What states that Kerry lost could Hillary win? (Arkansas, Ohio, Florida, New Mexico, maybe 1-2 others--more than enough to win, even if she "loses" the popular vote by 5 million vote or more, which is a distinct possibility)
- What Republican can stop her? (too early to tell)

Stopping her will be a Herculean task, especially now that she's moving to the right of the GOP on immigration (I know she doesn't mean it, but it still looks like it to most people).

Hillary will have big problems with a dem base in Minnesota(struggle in Iron Range), Wisconsin(Iron Range and Mississippi river area), and Michigan(Da UP, Macomb, Bay/Saginaw whites, Downriver dems). White Men don't not like her at all. Women either love her or hate her. Conservative women hate her more than the men do.

In my state, Hillary's only shot is to repeat Kerry's performance (and fraud) with turnout in the minority areas(Detroit) and culturally lib areas like SE Oakland County, Washtenaw County, and East Lansing. Detroit lost at least 50,000 people since 2000. It may drop from 925,000 to under 900,000 in 08. It's the most democrat big city in the country. The GOP areas are also increasing population faster than dem areas. She'll also need a bad economy here.

She won't have the dem advantage in 08 of "anyone but Bush". Especially if the Republican is a governor.

Your right and I have a feeling we are going to lose the 2008 election because of the people who have this staunch feeling in their mind that no one would vote for Hillary. The Democrats thought that about Bush.

Whoever runs had better get in shape so they can come out with a strong and energetic populist Republican message. Someone without hesitation to be confrontational. McCain seems only confrontational too his own party. I personally like the Rudy/Rice ticket. I just think all the pro-lifers would vote for McCain no matter what compromises Rudy makes. Which is a shame as McCain doesn't have the balls for the campaign IMO. Which would mean more babies dieing at the hand of "final solution" Hitlery

Hillary has so much negative baggage it will make the GOPs' trouncing of John Kerry look like a Foursquare church picnic.

Hillary will be annihilated! Bring her on!

You're half right and half wrong. You're right about her winning the nomination. The Clinton machine will destroy any opposition in the party. You're wrong about her winning nationally. MI, PA, OH, WI, IA, MN --- these are all purple states full of working class and middle class moderates who don't want to vote for a socialist New Yorker with a shrill demeanor. They're practically begging us to give them someone decent to vote for. Unless we screw up and nominate Pat Buchanan or split the party over abortion, we should do fine.

Wisconsin and Minnesota will be critical to the republicans in 2008. take Kerry's 252 EVs, put Richardson on the ticket, Hillary/Richardson will make a play for AZ, NM, NV and CO - 3 of 4 of those get them the 19 they need to win. Our side needs to take MN or WISC to thwart that.

Most Conservatives underestimate how good a campaigner Hillary is. She won New York when many thought she had no chance. Now she's campaigning around the state and later she will expand her campaing nationally.

One question is how Ms Rodham will use the Patriot Act and who she will appoint to the Homeland Security and Intelligence Czar's offices.
