I see the umbrella thing quite the opposite. They are trying to make the case that he's fouled things up as a negotiator.
Where is the "victory" photo? He won an election with global opposition. A phone call? This is it???
Chased by a bug?

I am searching - in the meantime - one would never have known the President "blended in" with the crowds at the Army Navy Game ---- that is until the attendees knew he was there and cheered every sighting of him by the chant, "4 More years!"

yeap _ I liked that one,too
I also thought this was a pretty cool pic -
although since it was actually taken in 1999 I'm not sure how it qualifies for Pictures Of The Year!?
But then there are a bunch of shots included in this series I don't think are even worth a second look, let alone special recognition!
I guess maybe I just don't understand Reuters concept of "Pictures Of The Year" *shrug*

The caption for the umbrella picture does indeed stink.
Come to think of it, I don't remember seeing that many jubilant victory photos... ???

I did see one of the socialist shaking hands in Spain.
Where are the explosion photos?
The only terrorist attack image I saw was a building bombed in Saudi Arabia.

Someone ought to write to the Reuters jerks to point out their wierdness and bias in succinct summaries.

You do realize that most of the MSM has a policy to not to print pictures of victims of Arab terrorism, Saddam's mass graves, Fallujah mutilations, etc., because they're afraid that it'll incite violence against Muslims?
Of course, everyone knows that there's nothing wrong with plastering front pages of Abu Gharaib prisoners 56 days in a row.

And then the picture of the President's intervention for his Secret Service Agent - another picture of the year even though it doesn't show his face - it shows his, um, strength of character and bravery.
