Interesting question.
And I have thought about it.

It isn't going away, that is for sure... and it will be about choice-- since we will not ever censor this trash.

So pragmatically, I think there should be legislation that porn must be under a dot.porn extension on the web--REALLY hard to access--that it should not be out in the open in mainstream retail outlets--it should be hard to access--that physical market locations (strip joints, sex shows, adult shops)--should be zoned into a 'red light' area--you have to make the conscious decision to go there and decend into the cesspool--hard to access-- and OUT OF OUR MAINSTREAM world.

So 'hard to access' is key for me...keep it out my world.

Red light districts, zoned for that purpose, is good, but anything on the net will be easy to access, by definition and porn on offshore sites would be exempt from any US law. It would not be exempt from treaty requirements, though. There is just no effort to get anti-porn provisions put in treaties, probably because they would be impossible to enforce.

I think we're pretty much going to have to live with it. The real problem with adult porn is that for every male consumer there is a exhibitionist female who is willing to feed the market, that not to mention that work is far and away the most highest paying job for a female. And exhibitionism is latent in every female, albeit most have control over it.

As nice a thought as this is (and I would support it if it would work) it saddly has to do with a little piece I just mailed you.

If we censor it, those addicted to it will then be covered from sight. Their will likely be fewer getting out of line, but those that were would get out of control easier. Kids get out of hand real quick when they think no-one is watching and their are no consequences for their doing something.

No, saddly, the public's knowledge of porn keeps it "honest" so to speak. If you shut it in a box, just like mold, it will only get worse (and eventually give you asthma). Put it in direct sunlight if you want to keep it under control.
