"There is no need to eat meat any longer, so I simply don't."
The fat and proteins in meat are important for healthy childhood development. Children who receive little or no meat during childhood score significantly lower on IQ scores and are generally shorter than their meat eating counterparts. Children who receive little or no protein and fats even from vegetable sources often grow up to be functionally mentally and physically retarded.
The rise in the average height of people in industrial countries, documented during the last 100 years, is largely due to increased access to meat and dairy proteins and fats.
While it is important for children to eat plenty of meat during development, it probably isn't so important for adults, indeed, most adults would be better off eating less.

I have a cousin that decided her baby boy will not eat meat.
I'm not kidding when I say that the kid didn't have hair until he was 5 years old!
I saw it here on the Free Republic..."If God didn't want us to eat animals, He wouldn't have made them out of meat!"
