It was obvious to anybody with eyes that the Humvee had been exposed in Mogadishu. Nothing was done about it. The Clinton appointee who ran the Pentagon did nothing to address it. The military was starved in the 90s. Nobody has addressed the cost of this neglect. There were no spare parts, barely any ammo. Under those circumstances, nothing was going to be done to fix the Humvees. it is a scandal that any Humvees after 93 left the factory without being uparmored.

As I see it, Clitoon, the media that never questioned Clinton's steep military cuts, the Pentagon, Bush and the Congress all have blame in this.

The strain on the Guard and Reserves is a direct result of Clinton's slashing of the Army's end strength. Nobody in media has brought it up. House Republicans should relentlessly hammer it home. GOP bloggers and talk radio should talk about it constantly. The Right doesn't no how to
fight back. The MSM and the Rats in DC hammer and hammer away, when does anybody on our side change the terms of the debate. Clintoon's military cuts should make the Left shut up for awhile. They can't bitch about the over-stretched army, if the American public is told that Clintoon and the Left cut the army to the bone.

Why do they always get a free lunch? Yes, we one the election (barely-- had we educated the electorate, we would have won by 20 points), but the debates are still being fought. We need to engage, we need to fight back, we need to expose the Left and we need to win. Having said that, Bush should turn Heaven and Earth to fix the problems he inherited.

"There were no spare parts, barely any ammo"
I remember that all too well.
My artillery unit was "S.O.L." if we broke anything.

And when we grumbled too loudly, some regulation was invented so that we coudln't 'question the commander in sink', er.. 'commander in chief'.
Anyone who dared utter against Clinton got an Article 15 and had some rather unpleasant experiences occur to their career.

We are trying to turn this about.
I wish it'd move quicker.
I am not in a position though to guess whether or not it could move quicker.
*sigh*
