Unless that .22 is the conversion kit for the .45, you need to step up to a larger bore. Anything that starts with a '4' would be good. I suppose a .22 is better than nothing, but it is a long, long way from what Robert Raurk called "enough gun."

I shot a raccoon with a .22 a few days ago. He was fighting with my dog.
Nothing seemed to happen at first. The raccoon just continued sitting on my deck railing. I though I might have missed, until the raccoon starting licking his wound. He quit bugging my dog, so I finally went to bed. But the raccoon was still alive. I think my dog finished him off during the night.
I'll never count on a .22 for protection again.
