This is unbelievable. Mineta is completely incompetent and is very dangerous as head of the transportation department.

Of course not. But Mineta has to be the most incompetent of all the Cabinet level secretaries. What does the President gain by keeping him on?

Because it is.

I could understand having all the Clinton holdovers during the first term: a short transitional period, and then 9/11. But now, there's absolutely no excuse. Mineta needs to go. I can't believe it took Iraq to finally clean out CIA. What will it take to clean out Transportation?

Racial profiling is stupid, it doesn't get the job done. Just suppose if the next attack comes from a bunch of crazed old white men who just happen to be a legal residents.

Can we assume that he would just be more dangerous outside the administration? Or perhaps we can suggest that any other Dem who would accept a nomination into the administration would be worse.

Mineta & Snow are both awful - (I can take Snow being there, probably out of loyalty...and there is much on the economy side outside of him) -

But keeping Mineta is simply wrong - This man is terrible.

I'm amazed at the damning of Bush due to all of you having your expectations dashed. You set that up, not him. Why Bush keeps Mineta, I don't know but he must have a reason. But you folks can make your voices heard about the wrong-headed policies.

Isn't group histrionics fun to watch?

If this guy is the complete idiot as portrayed here, then the President wouldn't keep him on. I'm guessing he believes Mineta is part of the reason we haven't had any attacks since 9/11.

At any rate, the President clearly knows what he's doing........a fact which seems to be eluding a few folks around here.

(Wouldn't it be nice if the emotional level would be brought down a few notches, and only rational comments made? Then a serious discussion of whether or not this seems to be a good move on Bush's part could be made. As it is, the "Bush is a moron" folks have already destroyed any chance of a serious discussion here).

Maybe you could expound on your opinion instead of just saying you are sick. The news that usually makes me sick, is if a love one has been diagnosed with cancer, not that a Cabinet member is staying on.

Thanks for putting this into prospective; and you did it so early in the thread, I hope others at least *consider* your remarks.

So, the Groping Innocent Passengers Act is still in effect at our airports.

I AM A PROPONENT OF PROFILING, WHATEVER KIND IT TAKES.

0K, Mineta was interned as a child and they took away his baseball bat. Now he will oppose any sort of racial profiling with his dying breath, and oppose anything being allowed to go on an airplane that could conceivably be used as a weapon. These are the things the man gets out of bed in the morning for. He literally does not care if a plane goes down due to muslim infiltration as long as there was no profiling.

Oh, yeah..........President Bush wants democrats to love him..........

.......which is why he tore JfK limb from limb and defeated him with the largest popular vote in history, helped engineer the defeat of lil tommy daschle, added to the Republican majorities in both the House and Senate, nominates incredibly conservative judges, and is coming on like gangbusters about his VERY conservative second term agenda, and making the leftist media and pols absolutely apoplectic.

Reality doesn't seem to be in some of these folks' vocabularies, does it?

Interesting, isn't it?

Complete lack of support for, and derision of President Bush, and then demanding he meet their demands at every turn.

I tell you.........this mass hysteria is preventing any serious discussion of whether retaining Mineta is a wise decision.........which is what I would like to see here.

Too bad it won't happen.

OH............missed the "Republicans hate him" part.

Right. Over 90% approval during his entire four years in office. Republicans really do hate him, don't they? LOL!
