Thoughts on both of your points:

Marvin, I suspect that Askel is not so much bitter as she is trying to alert the readers to the fact that the GOP is not the pristine "Party of Life and Family" that so many sheeple, including many good folk on FR seem to believe. Many very well intentioned and sincere Pro-Life people get quite defensive when the facade of the GOP is pulled back.

I've been a registered Republican since the week of my 18th birthday and this continued GOP involvement disgusts me beyond words!

We cannot defeat the scourge of abortion without understanding "who's who" and "what's what" NSSM200 is a major part of the puzzle that needs to be taken into serious account. The "Pro-Life" plank of the GOP Convention Platform is a lie when seen next to the actual policy that the party continues.

The fact is Kissinger wrote 200 for a GOP Prez and Ford, another GOP, continued it.

Askel, IMO it may be better to finish the thought:

Abortion was part of a policy of global AND domestic population control and eugenics; which was enacted via executive order by two consecutive Republican administrations, with massive support from the Rockefeller wing of the Democrat party. This quickly became entrenched US government policy and embraced by many of both major political parties. NSSM200 has remained in effect through all administrations since it's implementation.

=== massive support from the Rockefeller wing of the Democrat party.

To be sure ... any Catholic who isn't familiar with Rockefeller's thinking to influence the Pope on Humanae Vitae or the closed door conferences Hesburgh held at Notre Dame preparatory to having Catholics mint the phrase "I'm personally opposed BUT I would never impose my beliefs on another" during Congressional hearings has yet to understand the very real Democrat complicity at work here.

But even more important than the fact there is really very little to distinguish the Elite of both parties, IMHO, is the truly tragic way the Democrats were charged with making abortion their "Litmus Test."

You can read posts on this forum and realize that plenty of so-called conservatives (among them quite a few "former Democrats", eh comrades? =) have no problems with abortion's being legal and support wholeheartedly the state's intervening to sanction birth control and artificial reproduction.

So the lines have blurred a bit but abortion's still waved like a red cape in folks' faces because it's vitally important that the Party of Dysgenics -- the Democrats -- off more of their own than the more prosperous and stable Republican constituency.

This is one point I wouldn't mind going over to DU and making one day though, to date, I've never been inspired to visit, even.

I have always wondered, however, if it would be possible to rouse a "woman scorned" sort of reaction out of Dems if enough began to realize how they'd been had. I suppose it's my utterly disappointing experiences as a Bloodhound among the NO-AIDS Task Force heavy-hitters that causes me to believe most -- from Jews to Catholics to homosexuals and feminists -- have Politicized their faith beyond repair and can't place anything before the Party ... even God himself or their own friends and family.
