Don King has done more for all boxers, from bums, contenders and champions alike

I'm simply amazed that anyone can say this. The line of trashed hopefuls in Don King's wake is absolutely endless. In fact, no single person has contributed to the downfall of the sport more than this two-bit and raunchy carny con man. He has weaseled his way into the lives of one promising boxer after the other and destroyed their careers. Tyson was simply his biggest score.

Gus D'Amato, and his white foster mother.

You should also mention his manager Jimmy Jacobs (who died) and Kevin Rooney (whom Tyson fired after his fight with Michael Spinks). After all these foks were out of the picture and Don King was in Tyson lost his very next fight (his first loss) to Buster Douglas and, subsequently, went into free-fall. He's never recovered.

You simply have no idea about boxing - This is clear - (what you sound like is someone who gets their political news via the main-stream media only....and thus thinks the Republican Party is bad...) -

While, I understand you probably are concerned and know about politics outside of the MSM - It is obvious within the sport of boxing you haven't a clue....and are spoon-feed by images and MSM stories only -

In Don King's "wake" is thousands and thousands of fighters who earned more money then they ever thought possible...or ever would have under any other promoters.....the whole game of boxing has sky-rocketed (in terms of $$ and money earned by fighters) since Don King has been invovled -

For the paying public Don King puts on by far the best fight nights - He shows are routinely filled with good and competitive fights - From under-cards through to the championship bouts -

Again, Don King has done more for the sport of boxing than anyone - That is the bottom line! (Oh, and wait, I bet you are also for more Gov't in Boxing as well??? - Is John McCain the answer here too?) -

Well, even though I disagree with you, I have not prefaced my disagreement with you by saying something like, "you have no idea."

The truth is that I do not have to rely only on the MSM. I've lived for many years in Las Vegas and worked in the media and obtained press passes and attended many fights. I've follow the sport for many years.

I've met several well-known fighters who would disagree with you and gladly spit on Don King (George Foreman being one of them). I've attended press events where I was close enough to smell Don King... literally.

Again, Don King has done more for the sport of boxing than anyone - That is the bottom line!

I would say that Don King has done more TO the sport of boxing than anyone. Yes, some fighters have made more money than ever while working with him. These same fighters have found themselves entangled in convoluted contracts that actually kept them from fighting during their prime, while King played them like poker chips in his rigged, alphabet soup card game. Many of these same fighters have been robbed, used and abandoned by King.

I know that King, recently, supported Bush and staged a few photo-ops with the president. But, even while this says nothing terrible about Bush, it does NOT make Don King any better than the low-life con man he is and always has been.

Say what you want, disagree. But, please, don't suppose I "know nothing about boxing" or that I only get my information from the MSM.

Where is it that you get YOUR info?

I get my information from working with Kronk Gym in Detroit, MI for years - And being a semi-active participant in the world of boxing since -

The fighter's you find that are mad at King for the most part are grown men who are mad for having to pay for things they bought!! -

I find it hilarious that so many of these fighters ring up huge tabs during their training sessions....then get mad when what they spent is taken out of their PURSE money....Well, duh??....Mr. King covers all your expenses leading up to their fights....so they don't have to worry about that smaller BS.....but then they get mad when it comes out of their purse money!! (this was both Tyson's and Larry Holmes biggest complaints against King)

The average $$ going to even club fighters has increased dramatically since Don King has been involved (and especially so for those club fighters fighting on a Don King card....he pays the lesser known boxers very well and much above what ANY of the other so called "good" promoters ever shell out!!)

The amount of money made by the keynote fighters such as Tyson, Holmes, Foreman, etc, etc, etc.....these guys wouldn't have made HALF what they made if it wasn't for Don King - and that is a fact!

And lastly for you to suggest Don King is nothing more than a low-life con man.....shows exactly what I said....you know nothing about the world of boxing. That's the bottom line.

Well, for you to suggest that George Foreman owes any of his wealth to Don King is mistaken. Foreman has made most of his wealth in his 2nd career and without Don King. Foreman is, if anything, a smart businessman who, after untangling himself from King, managed to rebound and succeed.

Since you bring him up, Larry Holmes also has some choice words for King. I've never heard any stories about Holmes wasting all of his money (unless it was with ex-wives). Tyson... ? Well, I think the consensus here is that Tyson is a nitwit.

Be that as it may, I respect your opinion even if you do not respect mine. We disagree.

BTW, what is it you do at the Kronk Gym? I'd be interested to know. Tell me some boxing stories.
