You've hit it -- and more people have to get their minds around it. What we have here is the '60s generation in their 50s and 60s trying to make their "last stand" -- even though these were the same people who brought us the "disco era" and "greed is good." That they are as vociferous as they are is not surprising -- they see the world passing them by, as every aging generation has seen since time immemorial. Think of it this way: taking the advice of people from the '60s in the '00s is like taking the advice of people from the '20s in the '60s.

They need to get out of the way.
