IMO people who value animal life over human life show signs of mental disorder, were my opinion to become the dominant theory of law make you happy to wind up with 18 months in a mental hospital because of your statements here?
Yes, the guy was extremely cruel, and undoubtedly out of control with his actions. Punishment is deserved, 18 months is too much, besides do you think he'll be a better or worse person after spending 18 months with murderers, rapists, and other assorted thugs? Please invite him to dinner when he gets out, I'm sure he will see everything your way then.
That's easy. He'll be a better person.
There are two reasons why people don't routinely beat other people to death for annoying them:
1. The internal voice known as a "conscience"
2. Fear of punishment
Given that Mayhew's actions clearly demonstrate him to be a sociopath (i.e. he has no conscience), he needs the application of a clue-by-four that will amplify his fear of punishment to the point where it will serve as an adequate substitute. Eighteen months in the joint ought to do nicely toward that end.
Then following your logic, I'm definately not disordered. 5 years seems about right for sadistically beating a 4 month old puppy to death. I'd never let the monster that did it to a 4 month old human infant see the light of day, so all is well. Human life is treated with significantly more value.
That being said, it's disturbing as hell that we actually have freepers who think this was fine and dandy.
