So far, Jackson's boxed set, "The Ultimate Collection," has not proven to be a sales winner. It's sold 14,000 copies since its release last month. The set sells for about $50 in most places.

What? I would have expected sales to 12 year old boys to be through the roof. The obvious puns relating to "boxed sets" are just below my dignity.

OK, why would his fans who probably already have all of his songs, want to pony up $50 to essentially buy the same songs they already have?

Has he had a hit (or even a song that got played on the radio at all) in the past 10 years? How many in the past 15? The boxed set for a has-been with no recent musical contributions is a stupid business idea, even without it coming from a crazy, self-mutilating pedophile.

And it's not as if they hadn't tried to pawn off other "Greatest Hit" collections over the past few years. The reason they can do that for the Beatles is because recording technologies today are much better than when their records first came out.
