EAU CLAIRE, Wis. - A collection for the families of the six hunters murdered in Northwestern Wisconsin has raised more than $160,000 from around the world.
"It's heartwarming to see how people care," said Tim Jubie, chief operating officer for Link Brothers Ford Lincoln Mercury, where one of the victims worked as a salesman.
Chai Soua Vang of St. Paul was charged with killing six Rice Lake area hunters Nov. 21 after a dispute over a tree stand on private land in Sawyer County.
A fund was set up for the victims' families at Dairy State Bank on Nov. 24.
"Hundreds of cards and letters come in every day," Jubie said.
Some mail has come from as far away as the Netherlands, Jubie said.
The donations will to cover the $160,000 cost for funerals and medical expenses, Jubie said. The donations have not been dispersed.
Not all the families involved are interested in accepting donations because they say other families are in greater need, Jubie said.
Donations can be sent to Rice Lake Hunters, Survivors and Victims Fund, c/o Dairy State Bank, 16 S. Main St., Rice Lake, WI 54868.
ping
That's gracious. I know that sometimes families have good insurance and others have nothing. How many children were left fatherless? Did the lady have children?
THANKS, AS USUAL MSM DOESN'T CARE TO HELP
Thanks, PjhCPA.
Thanks for the ping Ladysmith.
YOu betcha. One of these days I'll get the main list updated and notify everyone when I do. Doing an FR search on Vang will find a lot of results, too.
bump!
Now that's the best part of this story so far - $160,000 and growing. Heartwarming response for the victims' families.
