A zygote is a biological term used to describe a stage of development in the continium from conception to birth. The new life undergoes development in a continium . . . the new life does not "jump" from stage to stage.
We are talking about a human life; the zygote is an arbitrarily defined stage in the development OF that life. It is not a thing in itself. Arbitrary in that you could call it something else; you could define the stages of development in a different manner entirely than the present biological conventions . . .
For example: you passed through that stage of life. You were you a day before, and a day later.
