Gov.M. Jodi Rell said on Monday that she would not grant a reprieve to a serial killer who is to become the first person in the Northeast to be executed in more than 40 years. She also said she would veto any effort by the General Assembly to repeal Connecticut's death penalty law.

I called and wrote to Rell's office -- maybe it made some impact on her decision.

Rell has some balls!!! Good for her. She'll be the Republican Governor of CT for a while. Now if she can only get rid of the Dimwits in the state legislator.
Jodi Rell is conservative compared to her disgraced predecessor. I also like how she's standing firm on keeping CT's death penalty law on the books. Now get the execution over with.

Let's certainly hope so.
"The serial killer, Michael B. Ross, murdered my college roommate."
That's terrible, I am sorry. I'm glad Rell is standing firm on this.
The guy confessed in 1984?? What's he doing still breathing?
Mr. Ross, 45, who confessed in 1984 to strangling eight girls and young women and raping some of them, is to die by lethal injection at the Osborn Correctional Institution in Somers, in northern Connecticut, on Jan. 26. He has decided not to appeal his death sentence further, though public defenders are seeking to intervene in his case and delay the execution.
That's definitely a deserving candidate for execution.
Fry the b*stard.
Very well stated.
I'm sorry, Somerville. Thoughts and prayers with you, and with your roommate's family.
They should put this evil man down quickly.
Isa. 3:12 ping.
Good for you to write the judge to get your voice heard and on the record! We pray for the memory of your murdered college roommate.
But, isn't she doing the right thing here?
This will be the first execution in New England, New York or New Jersey since 1963. Maine has not executed anyone since 1887. Hope the bastard dies soon.
Liberals do not believe in justice. John Kerry was a perfect example, even Terrorists didn't deserve the death penalty according to him.
It all makes sense according to liberal theology. That's why they can filibuster appeals court nominees, because they are too Catholic or Hispanic, with impunity, because the press is as liberal as they.
Dzung Tu, my former college roommate at Vassar ,was a brilliant student. Graduated with honors, won the prize for Economics and was in graduate school at Cornell, where her killer, Michael Ross was also a student. They did not know each other.
Dzung was shy, softspoken and very polite and physically, a will of a wisp. She weighed maybe 90 pounds. I'm sure he picked her because he knew she couldn't fight back. He raped her , strangled her and then threw her body into a ravine at Cornell.
Meanwhile Ross has found religion and is publishing in places like the ultra-liberal Utne Reader.
Apparently his execution date is JANUARY 26, 2005. It can't come soon enough.
I tried looking at Utne Reader, but it was too sick.
Sure, it happens.
