What a surprise and pleasure to find Gatto while scanning the dial last night. Have read him for years, but never heard him speak.

BTW, "The Underground History of Public Education" is available on line.

He's a good speaker, Don-O. I heard him at a homeschooling conference a couple of years ago. He's bright, upbeat, inspiring, and my impression is that he is quite the character, (great sense of humor) which is big in my book. :)

Fortunately, I was able to talk to him for a few minutes after the seminar. He does great with one on one too. As people walked up, he acknowledged them, signed autographs, and without missing a beat, would continue talking to me, answering my questions.

I ended up buying "The Underground History..." right then and there, if anything because of his marvelous wit, his intelligence and because I agreed with nearly everything he talked about.
