Noory is in love with his own voice. I try to listen, but his habit drives me up a wall. I mean, why have a guest, when you're going to spend the night "well I always thought" "when I went to school" "Did I tell you I went to the University of Detroit and studied denistry?" "That's interesting, same thing happened to me once when I ..."
Bell is so adroit at handling guests, his style goes unnoticed unless you're watching for it. The guest is the star. The audience is always engaged and rewarded with new information. He has a superbly subtle sense of humor, and his bumper music choices always have some innuendo about the subject matter. His mastery of theme and continuity make the time just fly. His shows should be taped and outlined for lessons in hosting guests on radio.
I've always loved listening to Art Bell. His show is perfect for the middle of the night. You know most of the topics are absolute hokum, but they're irresistible. Even the ads he does for sponsors are unlike anything else on radio. Love it.
