Three waves of Polynesians came to Hawaii; Marqueseans, Tahitians and Samoans. Kamehameha's roots are Samoan and he came from here, where I live, the Big Island. I don't especially endorse his tactics conquering the islands but then I wasn't there. His insight into the politics of changing times made him a remarkable man. And King of Hawaii.
