I knew what you meant by sad. I just wanted to use the opportunity to voice one of my pet concerns.
It's a struggle within my own thinking, having been raised during the relatively affluent 50's and 60's, to reject my 'self' and give all for my kids.
At 56, there isn't that much 'future' left in me, but what I see in my children and what I see in the world impels me to really consider this thing called posterity.

I don't know which to want ... I'm glad I won't be here in a hundred years, or I wish I could see America in a hundred years.

I suppose the one true condition we need to maintain is ... don't lose "God Bless America" from our collective conciousness.

So true. I am just a bit behind you (chronologically speaking), Knarf, and I too am deeply concerned about our posterity. Look and the sludge they've grown up in.

People like our dearly departed Uncle Sam billboard owner lived in a time when God and country were something one served. While I am very proud of our military today, we have so many more young people who are unwilling, unable, and unfit to serve on foreign fields or at home.

Were I not a truster of the One who holds it all in His hand, I'd be very fearful of the future.
