While it is true that he does not explicitly deny the possibility of exceptions for the unknowing,

I thought Scripture explicitly did deny that possibility.

Secondly, he is quick to aid those who truly seek him. I hear many a story, and some first-hand, of Muslims, Bhuddists and others (simply looking at the world and its religious teachers and simply saying, "This cannot be") who prayed like Gideon for a sign, whereupon th Brothers were sent to speak with them

Will they still be happy in Heaven knowing that their nonchristian loved ones are in Hell forever?

God is just.

I wonder if the parents of a child who died unsaved could be happy in Heaven. Any thoughts?

Such converts are invariably zealous for their families' souls. That much is sure.

No, but a verse: "And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes." Reveletion 7:17b

My own thoughts on your query regarding those in heaven sorrowing over unsaved loved ones in hell is that the Bible says there will be no tears in heaven. I believe that with our new, heavenly bodies (wish I had one NOW), we will not experience the things we do here on earth. Our minds will be different and I don't think we'll have memories of the past life here on earth. I don't believe God would make it so that we would agonize over anything in heaven, like we do here on earth. It's a new dimension and a new way of life and of seeing things. Don't know if I'm right but ....
