Are you aware of any publications comprehensible to non-scientists and economists that describe or predict the market feasibility threshhold for widespread use of alternatively powered cars, etc.?

Aside from the policy reasons related to reducing global warming, (and I am no scientist about this subject!), we have some very obvious and compelling reasons to reduce dependence upon ME oil. Is anyone arguing the two grounds simultaneously?

Most of the studies I've seen show that alternative powered cars cost us more energy and greenhouse gasses than our standard gasoline powered cars.
