It sure looks like arson.
I hope those responsible are caught and prosecuted.
I do work for them at other jobsites (I'm a subcontractor), and Lennar's pay is good in Maryland. Can't speak for other states, but here the money is good and fast.
No. I do work for them on some other jobsites. They've been arguing with some local activists about the jobsite's proximity to some tree grove or something. They wouldn't have set it themselves. You burn one down if you're trying to make it look like an accident. Thirty and you're guaranteeing a thorough investigation.
Anyone left there now besides government parasites?
My parents, who own their own businesses, my aunt and uncle, who have regular jobs, and a few friends who are active duty. I'm sure there are many others like them and a few who do work for the government.
What's wrong with that?
As I said in Post 19...
Didn't see it before.
Time to move, or face facts. The population is growing and people need places to live. I spent a few years in Arlington VA. In the beginning we were on the edge of farm country. In ten years, farm country was miles away. That was 1955. You can imagine today, I can't. Life goes on not necessarily like we or the Sierra Club want it to go, but neither they nor we are in charge. I now live in the wide open spaces of the West, and give no thought to so-called sprawl. Until ecoidiots begin to spread their wings and try to halt what is not going to be halted no matter what methods they might employ.
That could certainly be. But I doubt it. I drove through Indian Head area just day before yesterday. They are building mega mansions over there. And some group probably got pissed.
Yep, I know. I am looking West or at least, Midwest. Before the prices get too out of hand.
No doubt the local sheriff and perhaps FBI are investigating, but don't forget that some insurance company is out millions of dollars. ELF is a threat nationwide to the insurance business.
I suspect that private arson investigators working for insurance companies will figure out who was responsible.
I recall going south down Hwy. 301 during my 1969 Navy days on the way to Georgia...in those days, Waldorf was a one-stoplight town full of tobacco farms and, if you blinked your eyes, you'd probably miss it. Also, La Plata and Bel Alton were so tiny you wouldn't even notice them. Now, except for a few rotting 1950-vintage motels, there is nothing to remind me of that period. Malls, restaurants, tacky billboards now dot the area. My how times have changed!
Yep, I moved there in '69. Miss the 301 Ranch Drive-in, an old red barn that was on 301N, where the Shopper's World now sits. And curiously, the Stardust Inn was just as run-down in '69 as it is now.
The Twin Kiss was always good, and if IIRC was still operating last time I was through there. About 3 miles south of La Plata.
It's still there, thank God!
I remember going to see Westerns in the Charles Theater as a kid, and stopping at the Twin Kiss for a root beer float afterwards was allways a treat. We didn't have much by some standards, but mom and dad always made some things special.
It taught me how to work, though.
