2004 Free Republic Eagle Awards Jim has asked the The Free Republic Network to conduct the FR Eagle Awards as it has done in the past. The awards committee will be made up of myself, two members from the FRN BOD (DoughtyOne and Nick Danger have volunteered), two members from the Leadership Council (Rabid Dog and Firebrand have been invited) and two members from the Forum. The awards will be presented at the Inaugural Ball. If you are interested in volunteering for this committee, please FReepemail me. The Award categories and winners in the past have been voted on based on their contributions to the conservative cause (or in the case of the media award, balance in reporting) during the awards year. They have included..
Public Servant of the Year
Media Person of the Year
Free Republic Chapter of the Year
FReeper of the Year
We are considering adding a new category, FR Poster of the Year. Official nomination criteria and voting will be forthcoming shortly.
If you have any suggestions for award categories or criteria, please post them here. Please, no nominations yet.

To: Bob J; Buckhead
If Buckhead doesn't win FReeper of the Year and/or Poster of the Year, this award is meaningless.

Any time. (And that's all it is - I don't normally do brusque but I got distracted).

I agree re: Buckhead for Freeper of the year. Honorable Mention to Bommer.
Public Servant of the Year: Zell Miller (nobody did more for the President in the last campaign and at a pretty large personal risk.)
Media Person of the Year: Sean Hannity for his campaigning for Bush.

or Poster of the Year
Well, that would depend on whether we are talking about replies or articles posted. If the latter, someone like kattracks would be more of a likely recipient...

While Buckhead did a beautiful thing, it pales in comparison to Interesting Times and his Wintersoldier and Swift Vets work. Just my humble opinion.
How about Interesting Times for his Winter Soldier hard work and toil for Freeper of the Year.
And Buckhead for Poster of the year for his amazing one liner..

Oh, as for FReeper of the Year, pretty much no matter what qualifications you put on it, Buckhead is the man for the award.

Public Servant of the Year: Zell Miller I agree to a point, but I find it hard to put him over the President himself.

You know, there's always the possibility of Freeper of the Year being shared by two FReepers.

If you like Glenn Beck, that's great. I can't stand him...virtually unlistenable for me.
As for Buckhead v. Interesting Times, IT did great work helping others (the SBVT) do their thing. Whereas, Buckhead was the primary actor in his thing...he did it first, and he did it right here.

Sorry. I just can't help myself...
I just really think that he deserves it more than anyone. He helped affect a Presidential election with the GREATEST grassroots campaign in Presidential election history. I think that is amazingly cool.

While Buckhead did a real cool thing, it wasn't the end of the world for Kerry. It may be the end of the world for Rather, but not for Kerry. Just my opinion.

I didn't like him at first either. I gave him 6 weeks and I've been hooked ever since.
