My father, aged 53, died of acute myeloblastic leukemia in 1980. At the time I remember thinking that someday there will no doubt be a cure and I wondered how I'd feel about it.

I'm delighted. Deeply wish it had been available for him, but glad for all the others who will be helped.

Now that I'm 50 myself I realize just how young 53 is.

I'm winning the battle so far with AML. Wish your dad had the stuff I have.

I'd love to see 53 again.
