"Sorry if this is too graphic, but anal intercourse is one of the main ways the disease is spread. That part of the human body was not meant for sex. Unlike the thick tissue in a woman's sexual organs, the tissue in the rectal area is thin and rips easily, exposing tiny open capillaries. Disease spreads through these open blood vessels directly into the bloodstream. Besides AIDS, sodomy is also a good way to get hepatitis and other diseases."

But the disease spreads through heterosexual intercourse, as well.

My only issue with the folks who harp on the homosexual thing is that they draw attention away from the dangers that normal people face. Everyone needs to use protection, not just queers.

This is true. And you can also get the disease from your dentist if the dentist is infected and does not use gloves; babies get AIDS by breastfeeding from a mother with the disease, and rape victims can get the disease.

This article, though, is about gays and why the disease is skyrocketing in the gay community.

Protected anal sex is a deadly Liberal myth. There is not a single condom manufacturer who will state that their product is intended for anal use. In fact condoms even have a failure rate when used as intended - vaginally - as a birth control. I don't know if anyone even dared to compute the failure rate when used to protect from a infinitely smaller virus in much rougher non-intended anal use.

As long as "treatment" does not include NON-VOLUNTARY measures to stop the infected from infecting others, the "use of protection" merely improves your odds but does not eliminate all risks. And as the epidemic spreads in a society even that "reduced" risk rises unacceptably.

The fact is that compared to heterosexuals, homosexuals are wildly promiscuous. The numbers of average sex partners cannot be compared. Add to that the fact that anal sex is much better at transmitting AIDS (as explainied up the thread) and there you have it.

And despite what some people like to think, heterosexual people (i.e. normal people) practice anal sex a LOT less than homosexuals, who practice it at rates almost 100%.

Chastity before marriage and lifelong fidelity in marriage are surefire ways not to get AIDS, other than needle sticks if one is a health care professional.

Wrong! Married couples who keep their sexual activity between the two of them have virtually no chance to get aids. It's unfortunate that we virtually ignore that fact and the reinforcing of that fact...to the peril of our children.
